As Nikon introduced its Nikon D600 to the world, Canon responded less than a week with an announcement of its own affordable Full-frame DSLR- the Canon EOS 6D last September 17, 2012 just 1 day before the start of the Photokina Trade Show. Then after, the Canon EOS 6D was released in late November 2012 to the market.

The Canon EOS 6D is considered to be an entry level into the full-frame world thus the company's smallest, lightest and most price-conscious full-frame DSLR yet available in the market for enthusiast photographers and semi-professionals.

As the company's first affordable full-frame DSLR, the Canon EOS 6D is also the first Canon DSLR with built-in GPS  which allows the user to tag pictures with location data and WIFI technology which makes transferring and sharing images much easier either using a computer and/or smartphones. In addition to that, the EOS 6D's Full Frame is complemented with the 20.2 Megapixel CMOS Sensor offering a native ISO range of 100-25600 which is expandable to 50-102,400 with boost (L-H1: 50-51200 and L-H2: 50-102400) and the DIGIC 5+ Image Processor which is said to be 17x the performance of the DIGIC 4 allowing an exceptional processing speed or higher frame rate in burst mode (continuous shooting) and enhances the noise reduction (or greater noise correction) using signal processing. This expandable ISO delivers incredible images with excellent quality even in extreme low light condition.

CONCLUSION:
With its 20.2 Megapixels Full-frame CMOS Sensor at a price-conscious rate, the Canon EOS 6D is a better alternative Digital SLR for anyone who wished to own a full-frame DSLR thus providing excellent image quality. The expandable ISO with the highest boost (50-102400) allows focusing even in extreme low-light conditions. Not only that, the 11-point autofocus system with a single cross-type point at the center (sensitive to both vertical and horizontal details) performs focus down sensitivity to -3 EV which is said to be equivalent to the light produces by a full bloom moon. It is also claimed that the -3 EV is a full stop dimmer than that of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III.

Both the built-in GPS and WIFI allows someone to transfer and sharing images through Wireless Transmitter and allows image tagging and location data to be recorded while shooting with tracking modes.

The Canon EOS 6D is a well-built Digital SLR making it as an entry to the FULL-frame world.

Image above shows the top view of the Canon EOS 6D. The right hand top-plate is similarly having the same control buttons as that of the Canon EOS 60D with both the autofocus, drive modes, ISO setting, and metering pattern located giving the freedom to access the command directly.

On its left side, both the mode dial and power switch (on and off) are located. You may find that there are 3 new exposure modes (compared to the entry-level EOS DSLR) such as the C1 and C2 for the "Auto +" modes and the SCN for Scene mode (combining sports, landscape and scene modes). What's something extra ordinary is its mode dial that rotates at 360 degrees freely choosing what course of modes are going to use to.

Above image shows two Canon EOS 6D being compared. Left side with the rubber flaps close while the right side shows an open rubber flaps. As you may notice, the stereo microphone together with the sockets for the N3-type remote release are located on the left side of the body including both the USB and the mini HDMI ports.

Above image shows a comparison of the right and left features of the Canon EOS 6D. As per stated above, both the stereo microphone, socket for remote control, USB and the HDMI port are located on the left side while the SD card slot is placed on the right side. The remote control socket may be used using N3 type contact, Remote Controller RC-6, and Wireless Controller LC-5.
